Wednesday 4th December
We have just had the official handover from the builders and the construction and property consultants, apart from some very minor details we are now able to get into the room, clean and have it back into working order.
Thank you to everyone for your patience during the renovations.
Week commencing 25th November
It has been a busy week with the plasterers, carpenters, decorators, plumbers and floor fitters all fighting for a space to get on.
The room is beginning to take shape and is near completion with just the final touches left.
We are looking to start to organise the room and replace the toys etc from next week, ready for our Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday 7th December.
Thursday 21st November
Today the hoarding in the room has been removed and we can finally get an idea of how the room is going to look.
Work is starting next week to plaster and decorate.
Tuesday 19th November
The fitters have been back today and have put in the windows and have tiled the roof. It is surprising with the large windows how big they make the room feel.
Monday 18th November
Finally the windows are being fitted. After a wait of 4 weeks the fitters have arrived and are building the window framework and roof support in readiness for the double glazing and roof tiles .
It is actually beginning to take shape and you can now imagine how the extension will look when it is complete.
Monday 11th November
Work has come to stand still while the windows and roof are being custom made but the painters have been in and have rubbed down and glossed the above window of the Bumblebee’s activity room.
Last week we had the floor company come in and measure up ready for a new floor for the room, this hopefully will be laid the week commencing 25th November.
There is talk of a bit of a delay due to the windows but I’m keeping everything crossed that the room will be complete for our Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday 7th December.
Friday 18th October
The builders have now completed Phase 2 of the building work, with the foundations, lower wall and slabs laid.
Over the next few weeks the windows are being custom made ready for fitting. During this time the remaining fencing will be removed.
Wednesday 16th October
The site is now all clear and work has started on putting in the new foundations of the extension.
Luckily even though the weather has been terrible the builders have still managed to keep to schedule.
Monday 14th October
Today the mini digger has arrived and the demolition starts.
It is very sad to see the building slowly being knocked down.
Friday 11th October
With the grounds and room all secure, work has started in the removal of the roof, this means carefully removing each piece of glass and the safe disposal of all the fixtures and fittings.
Thursday 10th October
This month see major building work taking place at the Nursery. The old conservatory part of the Butterfly room is being demolished and rebuilt. The original building had a tendency to leak if it rained.
The work will take place over several weeks and by Christmas we will have a brand new extension, completely re-decorated and leak free.
The children have been very excited to see ‘Bob’ the builder’s wandering around and I am sure they will keep you all updated with the progress.
Posts will be updated regularly for parents.
